What is Value PlusŪ Seed?

Value Plus LogoValue PlusŪ corn is a new type of corn that contains genes that cause it to produce more oil and protein. It has been widely tested for many years, and has proven to yield similar to conventional hybrids in grain and silage while at the same time producing much higher oil and protein levels. It has been bred using natural selection methods and is not a GMO technology. It has been bred to help the grower produce more energy and protein on-farm and reap the increased benefits in higher livestock production or value of silage and grain sold off-farm.

The Value PlusŪ Quality program insures high quality Value PlusŪ with pure inbred lines and maintaining genetic purity through the seed production process. This is not easy to accomplish, but it will cause Value PlusŪ seed to become the Gold Standard of Organic Seed™.

Value PlusŪ Factors to Consider

Genetics

  • American Organic Most Experienced with Value PlusŪ
  • Independent program with no petro-chemical encumbrance
  • Conventional breeding program, no genetically engineered materials or processes

Unique

  • Consistent 10% plus protein
  • Consistent 9% plus fat/oil (Earlier maturities are at 7%)
  • Consistent 10-30% increase amino acid complex

Pros

  • Not just another commodity
  • Grow more of your own energy, protein and essential amino acids; lysine & methionine
  • Excellent energy source for energy high diets; growing pigs, broilers, turkeys, lactating sows and production dairy
  • Reduce feed input costs
  • Does not decrease fiber digestibility in ruminants
  • Feed efficiency goes up
  • Reduces heat stress
  • Easier to dry
  • Easier to grind, generates less dust
  • Additional digestible starch

Considerations

  • Should be kept on best mineralized soils to supply the high nutritional demand of the grain
  • Rations must be balanced accordingly
  • Maturities from 92-110 day relative maturity

Long Term Goals

  • Capture the nutritional values
  • Why buy bushels when you can buy nutritional value
  • Why sell bushels when you can sell nutritional value
  • Establish Nutritional value benchmarks

How Does the Value Add Up?

Value PlusŪ Corn Conventional Corn Difference Advantage $/lb lbs/100bu $/100bu
Crude Protein 10.5% 8.8% 1.7% 20% .20 95 $19.00
Fat/Oil 9.2% 3.8% 5.4% 142% .45 302 $135.90
            Total Value $154.90

Details

Early maturities (under 99 RM)
7.06 to 8.88% oil with an average of 7.72%
9.77 to 10.72% protein with an average of 10.36%

Later maturities (over 100 RM)
9.71 to 10.76% oil with an average of 10.14%
10.97 to 11.88% protein with an average of 11.35%

Above values are based on the following:
(DM) Dry Matter basis
$10.00 per bushel or $358.00 per ton corn
$24.00 per bushel or $800.00 per ton soybean meal (48%)

Other Advantages

Methionine 28%
Lysine 27%

Each unit of Value PlusŪ seed corn = $650.05* more NUTRITIONAL value per seed unit! A semi-load of Value PlusŪ corn would be worth an additional $1394.10 in NUTRITIONAL value! An increase production of 4# of milk per day at $26/cwt milk = $317.20/ cow per year!

* 80,000 count unit, planted at 28,000 seeds/ acre = 2.8 acres per unit x 150 bu/ acre
