What do the letters and numbers mean?
LETTERS designate Corn Maturities are noted using the letters A through E:
A= 70-79 Days
B= 80-89 Days
C= 90-99 Days
D= 100-109 Days
E= 110-119 Days
First number – Year of release (e.g. 7= 2007, 8 = 2008, 9 = 2009, 0 = 2010)
Second number
(0) – Value Plus® variety in first year farm release
(1) - Traditional grain variety
(2) - Leafy silage variety
(4) – Value Plus® variety in full release
Last number – maturity within a specific maturity range
vp – Value Plus® variety
Lfy - Leafy silage variety
Example: vpC946
vp - Value Plus® variety
C = 90-99 days
First 9 – released in 2009
4 – a Value Plus® variety
6 – 90+6 = 96 days relative maturity
